Fundo Vale recently commissioned EcoSecurities to produce a technical analysis of carbon markets from an international perspective. The company carried out a review of the academic literature about the sector and examined policies on different levels, to contribute to knowledge and understanding of these markets, which are so important to the forest agenda.

EcoSecurities’ report, split into seven sections, begins by analyzing the sector as a whole. It looks at fundamental aspects of carbon markets, greenhouse gas accounting and the carbon project cycle. It also provides an overview of transfers of credits for trading. The idea is to highlight carbon markets and their key role in supporting society’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
