Companies will go through a pre-acceleration phase in Manaus and will be able to access investment of up to R$400,000

The Amazon Impact Accelerator (AMAZ), which is dedicated to fostering sustainable businesses in the Amazon, supported by Fundo Vale, attracted 110 applications from 16 Brazilian states and the Federal District in its fourth Call for Business Proposals. The applicants are working in a wide range of areas, from technological solutions to handicrafts and sustainable fashion. Together they require more than R$100 million in investments and their annual sales currently exceed R$58 million.

During the selection process, six initiatives were chosen for a pre-acceleration phase to be held in Manaus, Amazonas. These businesses will have the opportunity to participate in an intensive training program, receive specialized mentoring and possibly access an investment of up to R$400,000. The expectation is that these initiatives will make a significant contribution to socioeconomic development in the Amazon region, while promoting biodiversity conservation and valuing local communities.

“The selection process at AMAZ uses a collaborative approach, offering support for businesses to improve their business models, impact planning and financial modeling. Another relevant aspect is the exchange of information between entrepreneurs in online and in-person meetings,” says Rafael Moreira, business selection leader at AMAZ.

It was noted that all the applicant businesses are strongly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and social inclusion. The leaders of these initiatives stand out for their diversity, with a significant presence of women and non-white people.

“AMAZ has consolidated itself as an essential platform for boosting businesses that generate positive social and environmental impact in the Amazon and providing a robust support ecosystem for entrepreneurs committed to preserved forest. It’s a strategic partnership for Fundo Vale to fulfill its purpose of fostering innovative solutions that balance economic growth, social inclusion and environmental preservation,” says Liz Lacerda from Fundo Vale’s business promotion and partnerships area.
