Fundo Vale participated in the event, speaking on the “Producers’ Access to Credit” panel

The 13th Brazilian Congress on Agroforestry Systems, held by the Brazilian Society of Agroforestry Systems (SBSAF) and organized by several divisions of the Brazilian government’s agricultural research agency, EMBRAPA, took place from August 26 to 30, in online format. The event, whose theme was “Regenerative Production and Adaptation to Climate Change,” facilitated broad dialogue on scientific advances and trends in agroforestry systems, addressing their social, economic and ecological impacts.

The schedule included conferences, talks, roundtables, mini-courses, exhibitions of extended abstracts and recorded technical visits, promoting the exchange of experiences in the context of sustainable rural development. Bia Marchiori, who is responsible for the technical, knowledge and social and environmental safeguards component of Vale’s 2030 Forest Goal, spoke on a panel called “Producers’ Access to Credit,” focusing on how to foster and invest in agroforestry impact businesses.

“The congress brought together specialists, researchers and producers to discuss and exchange experiences of agroforestry systems as a sustainable alternative to the current climate situation. The event dialogued directly with the ecosystem strengthening and recovery part of our Forest Goal, through which we seek to restore 100,000 hectares of forest by means of sustainable systems and are looking at partnerships and supporting initiatives that are disseminating and strengthening knowledge related to sustainable production systems,” said Marchiori.
